Can we agree that RepresentationMatters and often the ones that matter most don’t always wear capes, swoop down from the sky or stop bullets with their teeth, but are ever present with a helping hand, an encouraging word or a funny jester that helps us laugh away life’s challenging moments. Now that we are clear on who the true Heroes are, we can not deny that the world of media influences us more than we are willing to admit and in this world of Action Stars, Marvel and DC Heroes, Heroic Images of Color are few and far between in the blockbuster Action genre. Even more challenging, is obtaining Access to these Heroes, which has proven to be even more limited.
Latinos and African Americans are the largest content consumers per capita followed by Asians for Film and Television according to studies from the 2018 MPAA report and yet we are scarcely represented in this genre of Heroes. This is why we are calling on The 100!100 Individuals, Businesses, Dojos, Kwoons, Teams, and Organizations united to stand with the Urban Action Showcase and Expo's Diversity in Action Initiative as we celebrate the Heroes that reflect multicultural Images and Interests and make them accessible to those that they empower the most creating opportunities for the next generation to save the day!
Join the 100 as an Organization, Business, Team, or Individual through the Donate button below. Your Donations will allow our youth to attend the UASE Action Cinema Mega-Thon and participate in a full day of Screenings, Cosplay, Panels, VR Photo Experiences, along with Celebrity Photo and Autograph opportunities with their Heroes including a special Panel of Heroes! Supporters will be acknowledged at the UASIAFF Awards, Red Carpet Banner, as well as our festival guide. Thank you in advanced for being a part of the Action!
